WatchTracker — Privacy Policy

WatchTracker (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a personal movie and TV show tracking app. We designed it to keep your data private. This policy explains what information the app handles and how.

Summary

• We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal data to us.
• The app has no accounts, no sign-up, and no advertising.
• The app includes no analytics or tracking of any kind.
• Everything you track stays on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud account — which we cannot access.

Information the app handles

Data you create (watch history, watchlist, hidden suggestions)

When you mark episodes or movies as watched, add items to your watchlist, or hide suggestions, that information is stored locally on your device using Apple’s on-device database. If you are signed in to iCloud, it is also synced to your own private iCloud account via Apple’s CloudKit so it is available on your other devices and can be restored. This data is stored in your personal Apple environment. The developer has no access to it. It is never sent to us or to any server we operate.

Search queries and content you view

To find titles and show accurate information (posters, seasons/episodes, ratings, and where a title is legally available to stream), the app sends your search text and content requests to The Movie Database (TMDB) API, a third-party metadata service. This is required for the app to function. We do not attach your name, account, device identifiers, or any personal identifiers to these requests. TMDB’s handling of requests is governed by TMDB’s own privacy policy: themoviedb.org/privacy-policy. Streaming-availability data shown in the app is provided by TMDB using JustWatch data.

Trailers

When you tap “Watch Trailer”, the app opens the official trailer on YouTube in your browser or the YouTube app. Once you leave WatchTracker, YouTube’s privacy policy applies: policies.google.com/privacy.

What we do NOT do

• We do not collect personal information.
• We do not use analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking SDKs.
• We do not sell or share your data — we never receive it in the first place.
• We do not track you across apps or websites.

Data retention and deletion

Because your data lives on your device and in your own iCloud:

• Deleting the app removes the data stored on that device.
• You can remove iCloud-synced data at any time via your device’s Settings → your name → iCloud controls, or by deleting items within the app.

Children’s privacy

WatchTracker is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone.

Security

Your data remains within Apple’s on-device storage and your private iCloud, protected by your device passcode/biometrics and your Apple ID security. Network requests to TMDB are made over encrypted HTTPS connections.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will post the updated version here with a new effective date.
